The Drifter model surfboard by SIC sets the pace with a new recreational category of stable and user-friendly boards that are fun for all skill levels.

Confident and forgiving in any conditions, yet fast and maneuverable. A little volume was added to the center of the deck profile, and the rails are slightly more steeply pitched to maintain sensitivity while riding waves, even with the added stability and glide while catching them.

TOUGH-TEC Technology - Surf by SIC - Tahe Outdoors

Under heat and pressure, in precision aluminum moulds, we thermoform a highly durable, impact resistant skin over a moulded, watertight EPS foam core. TOUGH-TEC boards are a major step forward in durability while offering lighter weight, higher performance, and increased durability compared to the older DURA-TEC technology. They are ideal for beginners, schools and clubs.

Polyethylene is an extremely durable and versatile material. The raw material for the process is polyethylene micro balls, which are melted and extruded into 3 mm thick impact resistant sheets. This becomes the shield of our boards, an extremely strong outer shell for enhanced product lifetime and zero waste during the production process. It also shows a very low material impurity ratio, giving a clean mat finish and pure colour. The Anti-UV treatment prevents yellowing and material degradation. This envelope, together with our moulded EPS foam cores, are key to offering one of the most durable constructions on the market today.



SIC worked with veteran Santa Cruz, California shaper Jon Henderson to create the Drifter. Henderson has been shaping boards for more than 30 years and has honed his craft and shapes through his custom brand and while shaping for many other leading surf brands throughout the years. Henderson understands that a shape like the Drifter needs work in waves everywhere and has therefore drawn on his decades of experience to design a board that can be surfed in breaks around the world.

The factory and our skilled work force are located on the coast in Vannes (Brittany, FRANCE), and it is here that these technologies were born. Based close to Brittany’s wild shorelines, we have easy, instant access to excellent surf, SUP and windsurfing conditions. We are able to test all our products to ensure that they meet the highest standards of performance and durability. It also means that we are in daily contact with production and can carefully monitor quality control. It also provides our skilled workers with a nice quality of life and the unique opportunity to not only build these boards but to get out there and try them for themselves.

Not only is TOUGH-TEC one of the strongest board construction, it is also one of the cleanest. Indeed, every component (Outer shell, EPS foam blank, molded inserts) can be easily separated from each other and fully recycled. Old polyethylene can even be grinded down and made into new boards again. Manufacturing clean products won’t mean anything without committing to clean processes, something we take seriously.
