ESB La Torche and its team welcomed 30 competitors for an incredible weekend of waves, fun, and connection. The spot offered ideal conditions for surfers of all levels to shine—whether it was their first competition, or they were seasoned contenders
It was also a special opportunity for recent European longboard champion and SIC rider Alice Lemoigne to join in, sharing her experience, tips, and contagious positive energy with all the participants.

"The SIC Surf Challenge was launched last year and follows on from the Bic Kids One Design, which has been a recurring event in Brittany. Everyone surfs the same board, so there's a sort of equal footing, which is nice.
What's really cool about this event concept is that lots of surfers of different levels can meet up, whether they're casual surfers or high-level competitors. It's a format where everyone can share moments in the water without stress; it demystifies and plays down competition. There's a real sense of camaraderie. The SIC Surf Challenge is all about sharing and transmission. Everyone is on the beach, surfing, smiling, laughing and chatting. These are precious moments."

SATURDAY – PERFECT SURF CONDITIONS

Saturday kicked off at 9 a.m. with check-in, welcome packs, and the heat schedule announcement. Competitors also got their first look at the boards for the event: the Drifter 7’4” for the under-16 category and the 9’0” Longboard for all other divisions.

The action kicked off at 9:30 a.m. sharp, and the waves didn’t stop all day. Heat after heat, surfers competed across four divisions—Girls -16, Women +16, Boys -16, and Men +16—making the most of La Torche’s dreamy longboarding conditions: clean 3-foot waves, peeling both left and right, with light westerly wind.

As the finals approached, champion Alice Lemoigne paddled out to support the riders—offering tips, encouragement, and high-fives between sets.

By the end of the day, smiles were everywhere as competitors celebrated hard-fought heats and well-earned podiums. The energy peaked at the prize-giving ceremony, where winners from each category took home the ultimate reward—a brand-new SIC board!

Big shoutout to Camille Geffroy (Girls U16), Ainhoa Lahary (Women 16+), and Léo Le Tohic Casareggio, who dominated both the Boys U16 and Men 16+ divisions. Full results are listed below.

To cap off an epic day in the surf, everyone gathered at Surf House Twenty-Nine in Plomeur for a laid-back after-session BBQ. It was the perfect way to unwind—good food, great company, and plenty of laughter as stories from the day’s heats were shared well into the evening.

ALICE LEMOIGNE,  LONGBOARD CHAMPION AND THE LA TORCH STAGE ELITE COACH

“It was a truly special moment, getting to surf alongside all the competitors. It was a great opportunity to chat with the new generation of longboarders. It's amazing to get to have moments like that, to have fun and laugh.”

SUNDAY – CHOPPY CONDITIONS

Sunday morning kicked off with a buzz as the crowd gathered at 10 a.m. for the highly anticipated Boys’ Final. It was a showdown between Robinson Petry, the Hossegor U16 winner, and Léo Le Tohic Casareggio, champion of the La Torche stop.
With a solid 5-foot swell the two young guns rose to the challenge and took advantage of solid lefts to put on a great show. Well done to Robinson for his commitment and congratulations to Léo for his victory and his beautiful waves rated over 6!

To round off the weekend in style, there's nothing like a Tag Team format to share a good time together. The competitors took turns to deliver two great waves for their team. After a magnificent battle in an electric atmosphere, Team “SICaplast” won ahead of Team ‘SICk’ and Team “OuistiSIC”.

Competition, of course, but above all sharing! “It was great, we gave each other advice, even between teams!”. In Ronan Chatain’s words: “An individual sport that you play as a team with a collaborative spirit, it lifts everyone up”

The day wrapped up with another prize ceremony, followed by a chance for participants, organizers, and Alice Lemoigne to mingle, share stories, and celebrate the weekend. Everyone left with big smiles—and already looking forward to coming back for round three next year

And that’s a wrap! The SIC Surf Challenge 2025 comes to a close after two unforgettable stops filled with waves, stoke, and standout performances.

A huge thank you to Ecole de Surf de Bretagne in La Torche and Hossegor Surf Club—this event couldn’t have happened without your passion and support. Shoutout to the entire crew of organizers, judges, Surf Session, Jo&Joe Hossegor, and Surf House XXIX in La Torche for making everything run like clockwork.

And of course, endless gratitude to SIC athletes Joan Duru and Alice Lemoigne for being there with guidance, inspiration, and good energy.
Big mahalo to all the competitors—seasoned or first-timers—for showing up, supporting each other, and keeping the stoke high.
