SIC Global Athlete Jade Howson got things off to an exhilarating start at The 2019 Surf City El Salvador ISA World SUP and Paddleboard Championship with a gold medal win in the Women’s SUP Sprint. With a bronze medal win last year, 17-year-old Jade had her sights set on gold. “It feels so great,” said Howson. “Last year I won sprint Bronze and I just really wanted to improve this year. I have the best teammates. We’ve all known each other for a really long time. It’s more of a family than it is a team.”
The win was not easy for Howson. At the halfway point, Howson trailed Jessika Matos de Souza of Brazil, and in a strong finish Hownson took the lead right at the water’s edge, finishing two seconds ahead of de Souza to win the gold. Jade used the SIC RS Series in competition.
Congratulations Jade, we are so stoked for you and can’t wait to see what the rest of the week brings!
