Jr. Pro Women

Holding it down for the SIC women in China, Jade Howson from California dominated in the Jr. Pro division and won the Technical Race.

“My race was so cool and different,” shared Jade. “I had a new set of competition and new waters to compete in. The most challenging part of the race was not knowing who I was up against. At home, I compete against mainly the same people, so I know who I’m up against. Here, I hadn’t competed against any of the girls on the start list. It was fun and challenging to have a new set of racers.”

Despite the challenges of racing in a new place, against a whole different roster of racers, Jade was able to pull out the victory for herself and Team USA. Flying fast on her RS ‘Rocket Ship’, she comfortably finished first against her fellow female racers to clinch the gold.

“The best part has been being with the team, we have such a good group of athletes this year and we are like a family,” continued Jade. “My board was rocket fast as always, and I shared it with Guilherme, so it was cool to see him go fast on it too. It worked beautifully in the wind and surf, I couldn’t have had a better board under my feet. Winning gold this year feels amazing. I’m so lucky to have the opportunity to represent my country through my favorite sport.”
