28 MAY 2023 – THREE RACES AND A RAID
Another day, but always different here at the Yacht Club de Carnac (YCC) for this final round of l'Open Tour 2023. President Patrick Longuet of the Race Committee took full advantage of the magnificent conditions to decide on three races, followed by a 2.5 mile raid with the finish line out in front of the club itself. The 125 entrants spent a long day on the water, with sunny skies and 4 – 10 knots of changeable wind.
Going into the final day (see above) and after 5 round of racing, the provisional rankings have Charles Ganivet and Matheo Moreau on equal points, with Timothé Lesniak in third place. The podium places are up for grabs and will be hotly defended on the final day.
In the U12s, Charles Ganivet is well in the lead from Victor Ducherpozat and Atilla Mariani.
U15’s. Mathéo Moreau is the provisional head of the rankings. But he’s closely followed by Timothé Lesniak and Axel Bourlot. There’s almost nothing between them and tomorrow’s final day will be decisive.
Moritz Blum is top of the provisional U17s rankings. But he has club-mate Aurore Charpinet hot on his heels in second place. Carla Henoud-Bertaina is the overnight third.
Tomorrow, the final day of racing in the magnificent Bay of Quiberon, the 125 young skippers will steer their way to more fun, good sailing, and possible glory in l'Open Tour 2022-2023. But actually, all 125 of them will be winners !
