Last weekend, August 24 and 25, was held the 3rd edition of the Yaka Paddle Festival.
The event brought together all the ingredients for a great stand-up paddle celebration, with both amateurs and professionals. SIC Maui sponsored the SIC kids paddle race. And our riders also excelled in the long-distance race.
Sport and solidarity together
Larmor-Plage, France, attracted 150 volunteers, hundreds of musicians, over 600 participants and even more spectators. Conviviality, solidarity and physical commitment marked the weekend. The aim of this annual sporting event is to raise awareness of disability and to raise funds for associations committed to disability causes.
SIC Kids One Design Race
SIC Maui was there as a partner to support the event, with prizes for medal winners, a stand with testing gear, and above all to help run the SIC Kids One Design race. Over 60 kids, divided into 2 categories (8-11 and 12-14), were able to show off their skills and row around the race course on Sonic boards.
“The real highlight of this year's event. The kids, little gladiators of the waves, put on a show full of emotion and determination. They fought it out on the course, engaging in fierce duels under the proud and emotional gazes of their parents and spectators. The SIC Kids Race showed that the next generation is coming, that these young champions already have a taste for hard work and fair play, and a passion that's only waiting to grow. Bravo!”
says the Yaka Festival.
